- 15 ounce can chickpeas rinsed and well-drained
- 1 Tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
Spices:
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp paprika powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne powder optional
Cups - Metric
Preheat air fryer to 390 F.
Use paper towels to pat dry the chickpeas.
Toss chickpeas with oil and spices until evenly coated.
Transfer chickpeas to the air fryer basket. Cook for 12–14 minutes, shaking the basket a couple of times during cooking. The chickpeas are done when they are crispy. Depending on your Air Fryer, this might take longer.
Take them out and adjust seasoning. They taste the best fresh.
- Use canned chickpeas and rinse them well in a colander
- If you're using a 19 oz can of chickpeas, add 1 tsp more oil
- Patting the chickpeas with paper towels makes them crisp up more and helps the seasoning and oil to stick better
- Use my favorite spice mixture or try one of my other seasoning suggestions (see above)
- You can always adjust the amount of seasoning you use
- Make sure the chickpeas are evenly coated with oil, this prevents the spices from burning during the cooking process
- It's normal if you hear a popping sound during cooking
- Keep in mind that every Air Fryer cooks a bit differently, some are faster, some run hotter. Keep an eye on the chickpeas and take them out sooner or add a minute or two depending on how crispy you want them
