Why This Recipe Works

These air fried chops are crispier and faster to make than baked pork chops and use less oil than pan-fried chops but they are as delicious and make less mess!

My secret to making the most juicy and tender pork chops is to use the right cut of pork. Bone-in pork center-loin and rib chops cook more evenly and are more flavorful and juicier than boneless pork chops.

You can find detailed measurements including conversions and instructions on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page.

  1. Preheat Air Fryer to 390F. Season pork with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. You need three shallow bowls. Add flour to the first bowl, beat eggs in the second bowl, and combine panko bread crumbs, grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and minced sage in the third. Season panko mixture with salt and pepper.
  3. Dredge pork chops in flour, shake off excess. Then transfer to egg bowl and coat both sides, let excess egg drip off. Transfer to bread crumb mixture, scoop crumbs over the pork and gently press them onto the meat. Turn and repeat until you have a good layer of bread crumbs. Spray pork chops with olive oil spray on both sides.
  4. Transfer pork chops to the Air Fryer basket in a single layer. Air Fry for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown or to an internal temperature of 145°.

How do you know when pork chops are done?

Pork chops are fully cooked and safe to eat when the internal temperature measured in the thickest part of the meat reaches 145 degrees F. I recommend using an Instant Read Thermometer, it’s inexpensive and comes super handy every time you make something temperature-sensitive like meat, fish, or bread.

Tips for Making this Recipe

Here are some tips to make sure you get the best results with your Air Fryer:

  • Bone-in pork chops work best for this recipe because they tend to be more flavorful and cook more evenly because the bone conducts heat. But you could also use boneless pork chops!
  • Taking the raw pork chops out of the fridge 20 minutes before preparing them makes them cook more evenly.
  • If your panko breadcrumbs are very large roughly crush them by hand. This will make them stick easier to the meat!
  • Don’t skip the sage! It goes so well with the pork flavorful and doesn’t overpower it.
  • Use olive oil or avocado oil spray to spray the breaded chops from both sides.
  • Flip the pork chops once during cooking. Silicone covered tongs work best!
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature! Pork chops cook quickly and can easily be overcooked. Make sure the thermometer reads 145 degrees F to ensure your chops are fully cooked.
  • Cooking time can vary based on the thickness of the pork chops and the Air Fryer you use!
  • Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes after taking them out of the Air Fryer, this makes them juicier!

How to reheat Pork Chops in the Air Fryer

Cooked Pork Chops keep for 2-3 days stored in the airtight container in the fridge. To reheat them in the Air Fryer, preheat it to 375 degrees F and bake pork chops until heated through. Keep in mind that breaded pork chops taste best fresh and will dry out during reheating.

What to serve with Breaded Pork Chops?

I usually serve mashed potatoes and some veggies with this recipe! Here are a few more side dishes that go well with pork:
